From inspiring journeys and trailblazers, Crossland is honored to celebrate with NAWIC the “many paths, one mission” women take to accomplish their goals in the construction industry.

Cori Wilson, Crossland Project Manager, is helping to aid that mission of empowering women in the construction industry and beyond! She has had an incredible journey herself, beginning as an intern and then Field Engineer with many promotions along the way. She knows first-hand how vital organizations like NAWIC are in providing guidance and support to women in the industry. In 2018, she saw a need for an organization like NAWIC in the Northwest Arkansas region and was instrumental in forming the NAWIC chapter #384.

When we asked Cori if she had any stories of women in the industry she’d like to share, three came to her mind.

Tracy Suttle, one of the first women in construction that Cori encountered once she started her construction career. Tracy proves that you can take a more non-traditional path that still leads to an awesome career. She grew up around the construction industry and used her hands-on knowledge to become a Superintendent for Crossland!

Tara Fiddler is another inspiring example and someone that Cori personally looks up to. Tara grew up around residential construction and started out doing more of the administrative side. However, she decided that being in on the action of the building process would be a much more rewarding experience. Tara has incredible versatility under her belt, holding multiple positions as an estimator, superintendent, AND project manager. Talk about initiative!

Brittany Cool took another path and has achieved noteworthy success in just a few short years! After starting out as a receptionist with Crossland, she was inspired to pursue her dreams after job shadowing Cori. Soon after, she signed up for NWACC’s Construction Management program and graduated in two short years. She has jumped right in and is currently excelling as a Field Engineer. Cori adds, “there’s no doubt that this woman will continue rising through the ranks at Crossland.”

We’re so proud of Cori and everyone who has had tremendous success in their construction careers and who has impacted Crossland for the better. Let’s recognize and celebrate these talented women of construction and their amazing journeys. Crossland will continue to do our part with early outreach through our partnerships with local schools and universities. Undoubtedly, organizations like National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) and Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) will continue to provide resources and support to break down barriers and build bright futures for Women in Construction.
