The following article was originally published in The Morning Sun<\/em>.<\/p>\n Pittsburg, KS<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Pitsco Education<\/a>, a leading hands-on education company for 50 years\u00a0this year,\u00a0was sold recently to the Crossland Family<\/a>, ensuring that Pitsco will maintain its roots in Pittsburg, Kansas<\/a>, according to a press release sent out Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n Founder and\u00a0CEO\u00a0Dr. Harvey Dean said in the release his decision to sell Pitsco hinged on the new owners\u2019 commitment to grow the company around its long-standing mission to lead education that positively affects learners from its campus in southeast Kansas.<\/p>\n As a testament to that fact,\u00a0Ivan Crossland Jr., CEO of\u00a0Crossland Construction<\/a>\u00a0of Columbus, Kansas<\/a>, said\u00a0in the release\u00a0he will keep Pitsco running as is with no changes to personnel, internal structure, or product development.<\/p>\n \u201cPitsco Education, LLC, will continue to develop and market K-12 STEM, robotics, coding, and drone solutions and curriculum across the US and the world,\u201d Crossland said in the release.<\/p>\n Dean said he\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0imagine when starting Pitsco that it would grow as it has during the past half century.\u00a0What started as a small business\u00a0in 1971\u00a0creating hands-on learning kits\u00a0\u2014\u00a0most famously their C02 car kits\u00a0\u2014\u00a0in Dean\u2019s garage, has grown into\u00a0a company with international reach creating new and exciting ways for kids\u00a0to learn about STEM topics.<\/p>\n According to the release, more than 280 million students have used Pitsco products, and hundreds of employees have contributed to Pitsco\u2019s educational offerings that are designed to reach and teach all students, regardless of their preferred learning styles.<\/p>\n \u201cOur focus has always been on students and teachers, helping them to experience relevance in education through the kits, equipment, and materials we provide.
